Refugees: Escape to Freedom?

Always a reflection of current concerns, the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival is focusing in this, its 18th year, on the crucial refugee problem, through the “Refugees: Escape to Freedom?” tribute. The films in the tribute show the unprecedented humanitarian crisis being faced by Europe, which is receiving the largest wave of refugees since the Second World War. At the heart of these documentaries are the shocking testimonies of people from the Middle East, Africa but also Europe, their desperation and their hopes for a better life. These documentaries contribute to the global dialogue on human rights and the responsibilities associated with the question of refugees.
