Documenting the refugee issue
DOCUMENTING THE REFUGEE ISSUE: METHODS, OBJECTIVES, CHALLENGES, ETHICS

Wednesday March 16, 11:00, Pavlos Zannas Theate

The documentation and publication rate of the refugee issue is exponential and directly proportional to its size, impact and concern that raises at a local and international level. In what ways, however, do we approach and add meaning to an intricate political and humanitarian issue which is ongoing and consists one of the biggest transitions in modern history? How do we position ourselves and what dimensions do we choose to highlight? Which tools do we employ and what challenges do we face up? Where do the limits of morality end and where does the need for awareness, responsibility and action begin? Is there room for different forms of expression that diverge from the dominant narrative, and if so, how can they contribute to a meaningful dialogue? The above issues will be negotiated during the panel “Documenting the Refugee Issue: Methods, Objectives, Challenges, Ethics”. In this framework, invited professionals in the – frequently overlapping – fields of art, research and journalism share their perspectives, present excerpts from their work and open a platform of exchange with the Festival’s audience.
